Follow the timeline below to chart our course since 1994.
The company was founded in 1994 by Arlington Properties PLC (a wholly owned subsidiary of British Aerospace) and First Leisure Corporation PLC (FLC) under the name of Associated Marinas Limited.
Each owned a large UK marina, Port Solent (BAe) and Chichester (FLC).
The Premier name came into existence in August 1995.
The objective of the joint owners was to create a business which would expand its marina portfolio and subsequently Beaucette Marina (Guernsey) was acquired in May 1995.
In 1997 BAe and FLC decided to sell Premier.
The sale was completed in June 1999 when Premier was sold to Raglan Property PLC.
Under Raglan’s ownership Brighton Marina was acquired in March 2000, Southsea Marina in November 2002 and Gosport Marina in December 2003.
In July Beaucette Marina was sold and the Merrill Lynch Property Fund acquired ownership of Premier Marinas Limited and its subsidiary companies.
The Moody group of companies was acquired in December 2005, which included Swanwick Marina and a yacht sales business and brokerage operation.
The Merrill Lynch Property Fund transferred ownership to BlackRock Investment Management (UK) Limited in 2006.
In 2007 Sovereign Harbour in Eastbourne was acquired.
In June 2014 Endeavour Quay Boatyard in Gosport was added to the Group
In April 2015 BlackRock sold Premier Marinas to the Wellcome Trust, a global charitable foundation that is ‘dedicated to achieving extraordinary improvements in health by supporting the brightest minds’.
In March 2016 Noss on Dart Marina in Dartmouth was bought by Premier Marinas Ltd.
In July, Premier Marinas completed the purchase of Universal Marina located on the River Hamble, for an undisclosed sum.
Set in tranquil surroundings on the east bank of the River Hamble, close to Premier’s Swanwick Marina, Universal Marina provides 240 walk ashore marina pontoon berths, a 130 boat dry stack facility and a full-service boatyard, including a 75 tonne travel hoist.
