3.2 Data Protection Key Principles Copy

The Data Protection Principles provide that Personal Data must be:

Processed lawfully, fairly and in a transparent way

Collected for specific, explicit and legitimate purposes and processed in an appropriate way

Adequate, relevant and limited to what is necessary for those specific purposes

Accurate and kept up to date

Only kept it for as long as is necessary for those specific purposes

Kept securely and protected via appropriate technical or organisational measures against unauthorised, unlawful, or accidental loss, damage or disclosures.

In addition:

An individual must be allowed to access their Personal Data and exercise their other rights under the Data Protection Legislation

Personal Data must not be transferred to people or organisations situated in countries outside the European Economic Area without adequate levels of protection
